Inspiring People: Sebastian of Fashion Blog Männer Style

Männer Style is a German language style blog aimed at stylish gents all over. We chatted to it's founder, Sebastian, about working on the blog in his spare time and what inspires him every day.

Is there a morning ritual you have that motivates you for the rest of the day?

Early morning is the best. I really like the silence when I wake up early and my wife is still sleeping - only our cat is waiting for me to get up and give her some breakfast. After our little ritual, where she gives me a little nuzzle as thanks for her food, I drink some water.

After that I think about the things that have to be done today. I decide on what's a priority and create a list. This clears my head and I’m ready to get to work!

What inspires you right now?

Nothing special. Everything. Is hard to assign my inspiration to a special origin. Most of the time I’m inspired by things I read or see in daily life. Sometimes the best ideas pop up when I’m in the gym on the treadmill. Other times inspiration comes in conversations with others.

I try to be open to inspiration at every turn, and when it is there, I try to catch my thoughts and jot them down for later.

Tell us about the creative process when choosing the content you post about on your blog.

In the content on my blog, I try to publish a combination of current topics, timeless guides, but above all about things that interest me personally.

Here it comes down to the time when I write the post and what inspired me shortly before. At the beginning of the year, the content was primarily sporting themed followed by spectacles. And currently there is again a colorful mix to read on my blog. So, there’s no real creative process, which I could describe.

What is your favorite quote?

That’s a hard one. I have no quote which always completely reflects me. Mostly I find this while reading interesting books and articles. Then I take the quote a time in my life with me, to change it from time to time.

At the moment it would be one of this two:

“If you want to be happy, be.” - Leo Tolstoy and “Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” - Carol Burnett

What have you learned from working on your blog?

Time management would be the number one thing I learned from working on my blog. Since I’m working on the blog in my free time, after my normal job, I need to use my time wisely. I have to think about my wife, family and friends which should get some of my attention too!

Therefore I need to make to-do lists, prioritize and process everything, to get further ahead. I don’t want to forget anybody in the process. But there are certainly other things that I learned through my blog. Creating connections with others, harnessing the creative flow when writing and learning to just appreciate the moment!

How do you recharge and focus on what fulfils you?

During the week, I can recharge my battery in the gym. Also the daily dinner together with my wife and the time spent together gives me new energy. Every now and then we go on a short trip, which helps to switch off completely from everyday life and recharge our inner power.

We created the Vision Poster for your self improvement, as a daily reflection of your vision and to help you to gain confidence, clarity and energy in order to achieve your dreams.

Your vision poster gives you a clear direction and always reminds you that reaching your goals is worth taking every single step. It is the foundation for your personal success - because, in the end you can only achieve goals that you have set for yourself.
