Why Gratitude is the best Christmas present

It’s only a few days before christmas, arguably one of our favorite holidays here at Gloment. Despite our love for it, in the last couple of weeks we were all feeling the typical pre-christmas pressure crawling up inside us.

You know what I’m talking about, right? The feeling we need to buy the perfect christmas presents for our family and friends. Something they really love, always wanted, didn’t even know they needed, but now it’s changing their life kind of thing.

Well, we have a huge stress reliever for you...

Scientific studies have proven that expressing gratitude is the #1 Win-Win situation for happiness. Not only does it make you feel good, but you’re giving something away that most of us feel we rarely receive - appreciation.

In this video experiment from SoulPancake, which has over 4.2 million views at the time of writing, they tested how expressing gratitude to your loved ones impacts your happiness.

Participants had to choose a person that made a significant impact in their life and write down why this person has been so important. Then they had to call the person and read the letter out loud.

Speechless mums, moved sisters, warm memories, and joyful tears of feeling deeply touched. Watch it and you will feel it!

The story of an older man moved us especially. He picked his college instructor as most influential person in his life. He said that he never met any other teacher that had so much joy and enthusiasm for his work. Unfortunately, the college instructor had passed away already.

Great reminder that we shouldn’t wait to share our thoughts of gratitude with the people we feel grateful for!

Do you remember your mum and dad telling you as a teenager that you’re not being grateful for all the things they do for you? How do you feel about them today? Close your eyes a second, and think about five things your parents did or taught you that you’re deeply grateful for. Now, write them down and share them with your mum and dad on christmas.

Do the same exercise for your sister, your best friend or your partner, and we guarantee you’ll feel a lot of emotional magic happening this christmas!

And for all of you, who are still looking for a meaningful (last minute) christmas present, we’ve a special offer for you.

As we at Gloment deeply believe that gratitude is the best christmas present, we’ll give you 10% discount on all Family, Friendship and Love Posters. Use the voucher code GRATITUDE until the 26/12/2016 and create a lasting present for your mum, dad, sister, best friend or spouse that will make them - and you - feel happy and appreciated.

You’re worried that you don’t know what to say? We know how hard it can be to find the right words. That’s why we’ve created a process that makes gratitude sharing as easy as sliding down a slide.

After you order one of our posters, we’ll send you our carefully chosen questions that make it easy for you to find the right words. Based on your answers, we’ll create a draft version of your poster that you can edit if you wish.

It’s a great last minute present, because you can print it out at home. Additionally, you get it as background screens for the laptop and phone, so your loved ones can carry your words of appreciation wherever they go.

It’s time to share some love!

We wish you, your family and friends the most amazing christmas time!

And we’d love to hear from you: How did it feel to share gratitude with your loved ones? What reactions did you receive? Tell us in the comments.

With love and plenty of gratitude,

Your Gloment Team

Thank you so much for this article! I really felt the pressure coming up about what present to give to my dad. Every year it’s the same, I’m clueless of what he would really like.

After reading this, I decided to write him a card with the 5 things I learned from him, I cut out some images and glued them on it. His face was priceless – he didn’t know what to say, and I could clearly see that hearing my gratitude meant more than the chocolate pralines.
